About

Matt Brodie studied at Emerson College, graduating with a bachelor’s in film production. He then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in cinematography. There he spent 7 years cutting his teeth on a wide variety of productions, working in many positions, and studying under many great cinematographers, camera operators, and camera assistants. During that time a number of his films made the rounds in major festivals, including his thesis which was accepted into the Cannes Short Film corner, as well as the “The parallel Project” which was nominated for 8 awards, won 3, and received honorable mention at another 4 festivals.

In 2017 he and his wife returned to the New York/New Jersey area to be closer to home and start a family. Since relocating Matt has been busier than ever, working primarily on industrial pieces for local pharmaceutical companies, investment and consulting firms, and non-profits.

While he gained experience in many different positions while in Los Angeles, Matt primarily works now as a cinematographer, camera operator, and editor. His primary cameras are the RED Komodo-X and Sony FX3, but works regularly with other RED, Canon, and Sony packages, as well as Arri and Blackmagic.

As an editor he works primarily in DaVinci Resolve, but also regularly utilizes Premiere Pro and After Effects for clients needing that workflow. For a detailed equipment list including cameras, lighting, sound, and editing please visit the Equipment page.
